Pakistani intelligence agencies kidnap Baloch men
KALAT, Balochistan – Over 4,000 ethnic Baloch are currently missing since the beginning of the “Baloch War of Independence”. To date, the families of these kidnapped Baloch victims have no clue of the whereabouts of their loved ones. It is believed that these extra judicial arrests resulting in torture and murders are committed by the Punjabi-dominated Pakistani intelligence agencies. And, very conveniently, the military dictatorship government of General Pervez Musharraf denies that it is involved in any type of kidnapping, torture or executions.
According to the Anjuman Ethehad Marri (an association for the welfare of the Marri tribesmen), on June 5, 2006 plainclothes intelligence personnel arrived in six unmarked Toyota Land Cruisers with tinted windows and no license plates. They were all armed, and at gunpoint they kidnapped eight Baloch men belonging to the Marri sub-clan from the New Kahan area of Quetta city. The six men that were kidnapped were shopkeepers and daily wage laborers; and the remaining two were high school teenagers, one of whom is scheduled within a week to have surgery done on his kidney at the Civil Hospital in Quetta.
During the last two weeks, over 47 Marri Baloch men were kidnapped from the New Kahan area by Pakistani authorities, claims Anjuman Ethehad Marri. When the family members of these kidnapped men try to report the crime to the police, they are ushered away or arrested. The distraught relatives of the kidnapped victims are helpless and can go nowhere to get justice.
Everyday, more than a dozen Baloch men are kidnapped throughout occupied Balochistan by the Pakistani intelligence agencies. The legal system in Pakistan is held hostage by the military regime and cannot protect the basic rights of an ethnic Baloch.
The Government of Balochistan (GOB) in Exile, therefore, strongly condemns the extra judicial kidnappings, torture and murders of Baloch nationals by the Pakistani military regime. Baloch from different factions must unite under one flag and defend Balochistan from its colonizers. GOB (in Exile) supports Anjuman Ethehad Marri that has vowed to continue for the Baloch freedom struggle.
